I have been a member of DSI since around 1990,

Early Sunday morning at every annual meeting,
there is an informal Christian gathering, which is open to all
believers and seekers. This has been possible thanks to the
inspiration and persistence of Bob Andrews at Virginia
Commonwealth University. Kudos to Bob! You will find me there,
and I invite you too whenever you attend an annual DSI
conference.
This year I put my name in the hat for the
Vice President for Development position. If I survive the
screening process, you may see my name on the ballot. This is a
long shot, but if elected, I'm pretty sure I'll be a good one
for the position.
Association for Information Systems (AIS)
I have been a member of AIS for a long time as
well, and a regular attendee of ICIS and AMCIS. The placement
service at ICIS in 1992 was instrumental for my landing on the
first tenure-track position, and I have a fond memories of ICIS.
I am also a regular at AMCIS since its inaugural meeting in
Pittsburgh, PA, where I met wonderful scholars whom I consider
my mentors of information systems research.
Other than attending the meetings, presenting
papers, and publishing papers, my involvement with AIS has been
limited. However, I delivered a tutorial on RFID and sensor
networks at the 2007 AMCIS in Keystone, CO, with Nelson King of
American University of Beirut, Olayan School of Business. I was
also the Track Organizer of the first poster tracks at the 2009
AMCIS in San Francisco, CA.
Other Learned Society Activities
Other than DSI and AIS, I served on some other
specialized research conferences.
- Conference Committee, RFID Academic
Convocation (in association with MIT's Auto-ID Lab ),
2006-2007
- Track Organizer of the RFID and Sensor
Networks Track, ISOneWorld 2007 Conference, Las Vegas, NV,
April 11-13, 2007
- International Program Committee, Euro
m-Gov Conference, 2004-2006
- Program Committee, International
Symposium on Applied Corporate Computing, 1995-1997
